Audio recording from Sgt. XXXXX XXXXXXX of Recon Sector Team 1 describing his surroundings during the First Expedition into Hell on XX/XX/2005.

Testing mic. Can you hear me?

Loud and clear, Sgt. XXXXXXX.

Roger. Alright, so…we’ve all made it through. No problems breathing or anything. There is definitely oxygen. All of us are covered in that black XXXX from the gate. It smells really weird. The guns and gear are fine, though.

Can you describe your surroundings?

Yeah. We’re in the thickest fog I’ve ever seen. We’re staying close. The visibility is extremely low.

What about the landscape? The ground?

It’s all flat…I mean, so far. The ground is like…a black dirt material. Hold on…I’ll take a sample home. (Momentary pause.) I don’t know. This whole place seems dead. I really didn’t imagine it like this at all.

Just try to get as much footage and photos as possible and you can come back through. Do not wander away from the gate.

Trust me, we won’t. This is bizarre. There’s no wind. It’s so quiet I can hear everyone breathing. Damn, this fog is insane.

Alright…Alright, yeah I have the camera.

XXXXXX. Yeah. Walk ahead of me for a sec, I’ll do it.

Okay. Let’s see…Yeah (laughs) we got a good shot. I think we’re good. We’re gonna head back through the gate.

Understood, Sgt. XXXXXXX. Mission accomplished. How does it feel to be one of the first men to step foot in another world?

(Laughs) I need a shower.

FILE_014_003:
Report from Pvt. X.X. XXXXXX of Recon Sector Team 2 on the Second Expedition into Hell on XX/XX/2005.

I was asked to report something we found on the Second Expedition. It has all of us really confused and the rest of the Research Sector need to see this.

We were just about a mile east of the gate, coming up on the turnaround point. We marked our tracks. The spot can still be found easily.

When we were approaching the turnaround, we spotted something on the ground.

Ms. Woe from the Research Sector pointed it out. It was a large piece of red fabric, like a tarp or something. We all stared at the thing for quite a while. It was cloth that had been stitched by hand. How is that possible? We are wandering in the middle of another dimension, and we found a blanket? I don’t know, I just can’t stop thinking about that.
